As an eighth grader, I used to anxiously pick up copies of the school newspaper and imagine what it would be like to write stories that the whole school would read. But once I had learned the power of the pen in freshman beginning journalism, I began telling stories with the written word — learning and refining skills along the way to improve my organization, voice, sources, diction, word choice and more. Here’s a look at my writing over the years consisting of complex issue-driven stories to in-depth personality features and columns.
